Cirque Du Freak is a fictional book that teaches people to not do things without our parents consent, or illegal things in general. I know that it's fictional, but it can also be related to real life. The main character Darren Shan, is a teenager who sneaks out at night with his best friend to go see a freak show, which is illegal. When they go there, they see a lot of strange things. And they become curious, which leads to dangerous things. It gets so bad that Darren regrets going to the freak show.
One point in the book is when he steals a dangerous spider from its owner, Mr. Crepsley. He plays with it and uses tricks on it, which he saw Mr. Crepsley do at the freak show. The spider seems harmless, but Darren's little sister gets bitten. The spider's poisonous venom paralyzes her. Once again, Darren regrets going to the freak show.
His life becomes so upside down that Darren puts everyone's lives in danger. And he wishes that he had not gone to the freak show. If his parents had known, then they'd have protected him from going. But at the end Darren suffers along with everyone else.
Even though the storyline is fake, it does teach us that lying and doing illegal things always get carried away and that there is no good ending. Many kids do a lot of sneaky things behind their parent's back. Some things are so serious, that we could end ourselves, or another person under a life or death situation.

Social Issues in the Book
The book that's I'm reading, Girls Against Girls, is a nonfiction book with data and reasons to why girls are more aggressive than guys. According to the book, while guys may be able to get into a physical fight, it is less common in girls. Girls are psychologically more tougher, since we've been expected by society to be more sweet and kind. The book shows many scenarios of how girls fight, we gossip and get involved in other people's business. The same behavior has been noted in female apes. Scientists say that it does make sense, considering that present day humans evolved from apes. But this happens between girls almost everywhere.
Girls most of the time have a tendency to gossip. We hear something from someone, and we pass it on. Labels are used on people like "slut" and "fake" for the wrong reasons. Most of the time, this takes place in schools, were one girl might tell her "friend" a secret, who decides that it's something really interesting, so she should tell everyone. And she adds in her own twist to it to make it a bit more juicy and entertaining. The next set of girls pass it on with even more of their own versions of what happened, and pretty soon, everyone know about it. The innocent person has now become a "slut" even though she's done nothing wrong. This is how a lot of gossip is spread in school.
But according to the book, girls have been verbally tormenting each other for things they want. Girls have been proven to be the more competitive gender. Before in the olden days, many girls were not free from their parents until they were married. So siblings fought for this freedom by competing with each other for a better husband. Nowadays, we don't fight over these things with our sisters, but with our friends, we fight over many different things. We all want to be better than each other, but to do that, a lot of girls bring each other down using such labels as "slut" and "fake" and many more. If one girl has something, the other girl wants it too, or something better. So we're pretty competitive.
A female brain is more complex than a male brain, and we have been affected by society to behave "sweetly", so we avoid physical fights to appear as that. Instead, we spread rumors and throw around insults to bring each other down and get to the top. This has been a common thin between girls of all kinds, like female apes, girls around the world, and in historic times. This has been a social issue since the dawn of time, and we can't really get rid of it, but we can avoid it, by thinking twice about what we say before we say it.

Draft #2
The book, Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini should not be banned because it was designed for young adults to read. Authors have a purpose to deliver to us within these books. Parents should not be able to withhold the books from us, just because they have some questionable content. One person should not be able to decide for multiple people what they can and cannot have access to. Students should be able to read the books that were aimed towards them, such as Kite Runner because it teaches us important things in life.
All authors have an intended message towards their audience. In many cases for young adult books, they have a moral. Khaled Hosseini, the author of Kite Runner, wants us to think deeper into some social issues like homicide, discrimination, rape, and religion.
“When you kill a man, you steal a life,” Baba said. “‘You steal his wife’s right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. Do you see?”
Here you see the topic murder, but the author is showing us something that’s important. That you should not kill someone. Reading about mortifying topics does not change a person by a mile. When we read about murder or cheating, we don’t become a murderer or a cheater. Books may create graphic images but it’ does not mess up a person’s mind. (Darkness Too Visible). Therefore, students should be able to read the book that was made for them and have no one worry about the content, because it was only put there by the author so the reader can soak in a specific moral.
Parents and other adults should not try to keep their kids away from young adult books, because they will make controversial issues alien to them. Teen fiction displays topics that exist in the world and we all need to know about it in order to be prepared for life. If parents try to censor it from their kids, then when they grow up, they will be surprised and shocked at how the world outside their eyes is like. And discovering such topics shouldn’t be left to just the kids, parents should discuss it with their kids instead of trying to censor it. (Teen sick-lit). In Kite Runner,
“You’re bothering me very much. In fact, you bother me more than this Hazara here. How can you talk to him, play with him, let him touch you?” he said, his voice dripping with disgust.”
There is discrimination here, and parents should talk about it with kids because it happens all the time. Keeping us from not knowing all the things that are out there is against our right. It’s unconstitutional. According to Bildner, he used to go to the library when he was little and could enjoy reading all kinds of books, without having a censor on it. (Bildner 2). Parents should let their kids read and learn what the author wanted them to know about life, and social issues. They should let the author fulfill the duty of sending the kids the important social message.
Teens should be able to read about situations that are out there and develop their own thoughts to it. Kite Runner shows us things like violence, death, rape, religion, discrimination, and homosexuality. All of these are just a few examples of what we should have our own independent opinions on. “‘Something roared like thunder. The earth shook a little and we heard the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire’”. This quote explores violence, more specifically, a shooting. We all must be aware of such things. And it does happen, so parents should be able to take in these issues and discuss it with their kids. It should not be censored even though it contains such harsh content, because the book was made for young adults to learn off and discuss.
We all have a right to the information that author wanted to deliver to us. It should not be kept away from us. Kite Runner should not be banned from school libraries just because it has some mature content. Khaled Hosseini wanted to teach us about social issues. Parents and other adults should allow their kids learn about it and make connections. If we keep these books away, we are restricting teens from social issues that they need to know about.

Biscuit
Biscuit is my favorite children's book. I remember reading it when I was in first grade. It's a book about dog named Biscuit. I even know that the book overall has 120 words. It follows a pattern. The little girl says, "Time for bed, biscuit" and Biscuit would say "woof, woof". Then there's a translation of what Biscuit wants.
I read this book at home and at first, it seemed like a long book. But it was really fun to read. I paid attention to the artwork. It was a house with a cute little dog and a little girl and lots of toys. I read the picture book three times that day, paying very close attention to it.
There's not really much to elaborate on, because I just like the book. It's just a children's book, where everything is just written, so I can't really dig deeper into it. Biscuit is sweet, the book has great illustrations, that's why I like it.
